Detoxing

What is it?

Detoxing, also referred to as detoxification, describes a process your body goes through to get rid of toxins. In doing this a variety of symptoms may occur when you change your diet, stop eating junk foods and drinking sugar loaded soft drinks and join the millions who are colon cleansing for better health and a longer life.

Okay, so you stop bad habits, start eating better and add supplements to clean your system. When you make this dietary or lifestyle change your cells begin eliminating the toxic substances you’ve collected over the years. They are released into the bloodstream and this is when detoxing can result in you having headaches, stomach ache, coughing, diarrhea, skin eruptions, clogged sinuses, feel rundown and be irritable. These symptoms can be mistaken for illness. You might ask if this is supposed to make me feel healthier, why am I feeling worse instead of better?

Understanding this problem can be likened to the following analogy. Say for instance that you don’t get regular exercise, then you go out and play ball for a couple of hours, the next day you may feel bad, tired and sore all over. The same thing happens when you change your lifestyle, diet, stop smoking – your body reacts to change.

You can liken it to a drug addict coming off drugs – it’s a form of withdrawal. As the absence of toxins occurs you may find that sugar and caffeine can really set you system running at 120%.

The time span for these detox symptoms varies from person to person. You may feel bad for a short while and then start feeling great and then for what seems no apparent reason you can feel off again. Once your body senses the ongoing improvement it finds more toxins to eliminate by going deeper. This may happen a few times, but each time the feeling better lengthens and the feeling bad becomes shorter.

The hardest thing for you to accept is that you are not sick, but on the road to good health. It’s a time to rest and let your body work itself clean. Rest, eat lots of fruit and veg, poultry and fish, try to eat red meat only once or twice a week, if at all. Cut out the coffee and tea and substitute it with a herbal tea and above all, drink lots of water.

It may take a couple of weeks, it may take several months, no two people will react the same to detoxing. Once you are through it you will relish the sense of well-being that takes over. Here are some of the things people told us after detoxing:  my skin improved, my energy level rose and my brain activity and concentration improved.

Congratulations, you’ve taken the first step towards becoming a healthier you.

To assist you on the road to better health I have found the following Aloe Ferox products effective and relatively inexpensive:

The Bitter Crystals are an inexpensive way of cleaning out your system, but it requires you to be careful with the amounts you ingest. A match head size crystal taken initially with your evening meal is recommended. Ascertain how your body responds and adjust your intake accordingly – a little at a time.

The Fabulous Fiber Bitter tablets serve the same purpose as the Crystals with the added benefit of containing powdered whole aloe leaf providing valuable nutrients and fiber and being in pre-measured doses is easy to handle.

Both support detoxification and disinfection, help maintain regular bowel movements, which are critical to regaining your health.

Aloe Tea – increasing your fluid intake is a must and what better way than with a wholesome cup of Aloe Tea. It contains no caffeine and is rich in amino acids, minerals and other plant chemicals. It’s delicious with a twist of lemon or orange juice. Regular teas are diuretics and wash valuable nutrients out of your system. Aloe Tea puts nutrients into your system.

Whole-leaf Aloe Juice. I can’t say enough about this juice it is simply amazing. Probably because it contains more than 130 medicinal agents that are naturally present in the Aloe Ferox Leaf it can have a powerful effect on your system. It is rich in fiber, it helps boost the immune system and contains many nutrients and minerals that processing has eliminated from our daily food intake. Because it is cool processing the properties remain constant and none of the nutrient value is lost in processing. Your immune system will benefit. We’d like to hear from you what this product accomplishes for you. The space here is too little to list all the testimonials received, but you will be glad you tried it.

Bodybasics is a multi-nutrient supplement containing Aloe ferox and 25 other vitamins and minerals. If your diet contains a large proportion of refined foods then you need to be on this supplement. It gives you back what modern processing and poor growing methods have eliminated from the food we eat. Don’t be surprised if you are full of vim, vigor and vitality.

Please note:

Do not use Aloe ferox Bitters in cases of intestinal blockage, acute inflamed intestinal disease (e.g. Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colon inflammation), appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosages:

Aloe Tea has no restrictions you can drink it as frequently as you want.

Bitter Crystals: Take with meals 50mg with meals. 50mg is about the size of a match head. The dosage can be adjusted to suit your bodily reaction to it. Just remember that too much of a good thing can lead to trouble – in this case dehydration.

Fabulous Fiber Bitter: I believe in starting slowly and working up to the maximum dosage, it is much easier on your system. I also think it is best to start the detox program on a Friday after work. Start with ½ a tablet for 2 to 3 days and work up to the prescribed dosage on the container.

Whole-leaf Aloe Juice: You can’t take too much . Really it is amazing stuff. Follow the instructions on the bottle, but if you have a problem like allergies gradually increase the dosage. It will stimulate cell renewal, healing of wounds, it detoxifies is an anti-inflammatory, kills bacteria and fungi to name but a few of its effects. Take a tablespoon full before meals and increase if need be. However, there is no restriction on the amount you can ingest on a daily basis.

I forgot to mention, one of the side effects of detoxing is weightloss!

If you are overweight, chances are you have cellulite on your tummy, hips and thighs, detoxing will get rid of some of it, but why not go whole hog and get rid of all of it!!!

Cellulite consists of fat, water and toxic waste. A good sweat will get rid of some toxins through the skin. Skin brushing (using friction gloves or a Buff Puff) is a technique used to promote drainage of the lymphatic system. It also promotes circulation and skin regeneration.

When you shower morning and night, don’t just stand there letting the water run all over, soap up the friction gloves or Buff Puff and message – start at the thighs and work up – never never work down always work up. The first time go gently, with each shower increase the pressure. Remember you don’t want to damage the skin, and the skin does toughen up as the messaging increases. Toughen up means that it is firmer to touch but it also feels like satin.

After showering, towel dry and apply Cel-u-lite Gel squeeze out what would be about a heaping teaspoonful, rub your hands together to spread it and then use both hands to massage it into the areas where you have done the skin brushing. Follow this regiment for a couple of months – did I hear you moan.

Did you get the cellulite overnight or did it gradually appear and spread. It was much longer than a couple of months, more like a couple of years, right! So stick to it and remember to drink LOTS of water. Then write and tell me how good your skin looks and feels.

TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH!

Cool Advice on How to Survive the Summer Swelter

Skin Savers:

Summer swap If your skin is oily in summer, try a gel cleanser that leaves skin feeling clean and cool. Follow this with a mattifying moisturising lotion that will control oily outbreaks and prevent makeup from caking and streaking. If you usually use a cream cleanser in winter, switch to a lighter, milky cleanser in summer followed by a moisturising lotion. Products containing alcohol can make the skin sensitive to the sun and cause hyperpigmentation, so be careful when choosing products.

Cover up. In our climate all skin no matter how dark, require sun protection. For dry, normal dehydrated and mature skins, use a moisturising SPF. to minimise damage caused by free radicals.

Workout tips To prevent SPF from running into your eyes, use a protection product suitable for lips(thicker and less likely to melt) on the temples and sides of the eyes. A lip protection product will not harm the sensitive eye area.

Clean break Keep facial wipes in your beach bag or in the fridge at home and use to freshen up when you have sunblock overload.

Don’t forget your lips Remember, though, that lip stains offer less sun protection and should be applied over sun protection product for the lips. Lip stains are easier to maintain in summer than are opaque lipsticks.

The Aloe Ferox Solution

One of the best Gel Cleansers available is Aloe Ferox’s Facial Wash or Facial Wash Bitter if you have a problem skin.

Aloe Ferox’s Balancing Toner is alcohol-free, effective and amazingly gentle.

To protect your skin from the damaging effects of too much sun all year round use Aloe Ferox’s Sun Care Lotion (SPF 36) especially for blondes, redheads and those with sensitive skin Sun Care Lotion (SPF 36) is a must.

Don’t forget your lips and eye area. Just a smidgen of Aloe Ferox’s Lip Balm will do the trick on both areas and it feels so nice on your lips.

Eye Care:

If summer leaves you with itchy, burning, red eyes do not rub. This stretches and damages the delicate eye tissue. As a hayfever suffer myself, I apply Super Aloe Gel to the eye and deep into the corner so that it gets into the eye proper. It is not harmful to the eye and relieves the itch and burning sensation almost immediately. I carry a small tube with me at all times because allergies and mascara don’t mix. If I can get a small daub of Super Aloe Gel into the corner of each eye I won’t end up looking like a Halloween Ghoul with black smudges around the eyes.

Eczema

The Causes, Management and Treatment

If your family has a history of allergies, hayfever, asthma, one or more of the family members will suffer with eczema. It can appear and disappear quickly or hang around. It can appear on any part of the body, and is generally a response of a supercharged immune system reacting to either an environmental or emotional trigger. My particular triggers are certain perfumes, the fumes from a variety of household cleaners and chemicals, ragweed, goldenrod, cat,dog and horse dander and dust. And the triggers can be quite different between a parent and child or between siblings. Intense emotion or stress, temperature changes or high humidity and some natural or synthetic fabrics can also be problematic.

Have you got Eczema?

Eczema usually makes its first appearance in early childhood but can suddenly appear in adults, particularly when one’s immune system overreacts to emotional or job related stress. Recognizing it for what it is, and finding out what causes a flare-up can be a daunting task for you, your G.P. and your allergist. If you have a recurring rash that is either itchy or painful, or have a scaly dry area that occurs in the same area time after time, chances are it is eczema.

What can you do?

You can help your doctor by noting what you were exposed to, what you were wearing, what you ate or what you were feeling through the 24 hours before the flare-up. I’ve managed to eliminate the reaction to some like animal dander and dust by using disposable face masks and rubber gloves that can be picked up a most pharmacies for considerably less than the cost of treating the eczema.

Most allergy based complaints can be controlled if you learn to manage them. Detoxing your system can be a great help, Aloe Ferox’s Fabulous Fiber Bitter can help you do this. Detoxing can help remove eczema causing agents from your system which in turn improve the visible effect of eczema on the outside. Some soaps can irritate eczema so a pH balanced cleanser is recommended. A pure glycerine soap would be best or you could use Aloe Ferox’s Facial Wash Bitter and Shower Gel and Dove is pH balanced. Several of my clients had managed their outbreaks with Aloe Ferox’s Whole-Leaf Gel. Always moisturize according to your skin type after cleansing, but remember to test the product before you purchase, some products can trigger and outbreak.

Lastly, cut down on your sugar intake; be it from candy, soft drinks, cakes and cookies to name but a few of the culprits and products made from white flour which are converted to sugar during digestion. Excessive sugar can be very harmful to the skin.
